As it has been the last couple years that's the start of the vacation Shannon and I take for our anniversary. Hoping to come Friday before we fly out Saturday. I hate missing Trix's wild rice soup! :( I hope we have a good turn out this year. Hey all you new people come have some fun. Meet some good folks!
Without the bad times, the good times wouldn't seem so good.

Was really hoping to make it this fall, but as usual, work gets in the way. Have to work all weekend in order to be able to leave the 28th for our Clearwater trip!

Sounds fun! Not sure if we will make it - or perhaps just a nice day trip to meet some of the folks who made our first BWCA trip the easiest thing in the world! ;-)

Jan is correct. One of the other group camps was closed for the season so that put more pressure on the sites that remained open. I called the first day we could make reservations. By the time I got through Marshview had been reserved. Sorry!

Wow! The idea of attending an actual real live, genuine Wing Nite has always been on my bucket list, but I live on the Carolina coast. Too far to travel.
So , here is my opportunity. I was planning a 14 day solo, entering the BWCA/Q on September 19 and coming out two weeks later, in early October.
Here's my dilemma: Do I cut my trip short to finally meet all the fine BWCA.com folks and check "Wing Nite" off my bucket list? Or, do I pass up Wing Nite and keep my original schedule?
Hmmm ... let me think...
Any suggestions???

Just throwin this out there....anyone willing to pick up two people at the airport on Saturday and bring them to the wingnight? It would be me and my lady with our gear....we are heading up to canoe land after that I can have somebody come get us on Sunday for my prearranged schedule.
I couldn't wait for success, so I went ahead without it!

I plan on coming in either late Friday or Saturday for sure. While I generally avoid groups my connections with others on this board have always left me feeling good. I had conflicts and missed last year, but have really enjoyed tagging wing night to a BWCA trip and will do so this year. See you there...

I believe we are in the place used in previous years and there are some good hanging options. I will have by Blackbird setup and I am sure there will be lots of other set ups to look at...and boats to test paddle. I plan on bringing two fruit pies, anyone have preferences?

I think my wife will be able to pick you up on her way up to wingnite. I will already be up there. What time does your flight get in and what is the flight number.

Quick question. I'm planning on coming out on Saturday and spend the night. I hope to bring my teardrop trailer. My question is can you get a car back into the camp area to drop off the trailer? I was thinking the area the would be SE of the woodshed/shelter.

Are you going to make it then? You wouldn't want to miss all the great food and especially my famous Pumpkin Crunch Dump Cake! I'll be cooking it up in my Dutch ovens! Yumm yumm! Plus we want to finally meet you, too!

Yup! I've rearranged my schedule so that I'm entering the BW earlier and coming out in time to make my first Wing Nite. I'm really looking forward to meeting everybody.
I'll even try to get a shower and bring something other than leftover dehydrated meals for the pot luck.

Thinking about it for at least Friday. Might have my 10 yr old daughter in tow. Might camp, not sure. Could do a salad and maybe brownies if I get motivated. Sorry to be noncommittal. All depends on work stuff and our family schedule that weekend. Sounds like another fantastic wingnite campout and thanks to you and everyone for organizing!

Yet another year I'll miss. We will be at the Ely Folk School, making snowshoes. Staying at the Blue Heron B&B on South Farm Lake and and hoping to have time to canoe and view some magnificent fall colors (although I see a brilliant red maple already on their webcam right now...)

Ended up that Little Duckling's game is also in Isanti that day and at 10:00. Sweet! We do not have to "divide and conquer"and I get to see her play also!
Is the fastest way between Big Lake and Isanti cutting through Zimmerman on 4 or through the Refuge on 9? google maps shows only a 3 minute difference. Or maybe more importantly... which way is easier to follow along :) ? When I was coaching HS Baseball the "good " bus driver always cut through Zimmerman.

If I can make it, I'd like to bring my homebuilt teardrop trailer too. I volunteered to help with trail building on the North Country Trail in Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge that Saturday, so if it's cancelled/postponed, I'll try to make it down too. Be nice to put faces to names.

Heading out that Sunday for 8 days...somewhere. Debating either some backpacking in the Porkies and some car camping in the UP of Michigan to see the waterfalls and take lots of pictures, A late season BWCA canoe trip or a trip to NW Minnesota to notch the few MN state parks we have not been to(Big Bog, Old Mill, Lake Bronson,, Zippel Bay and Franz Jevne). Actually kind of like the choices but in any case I will try to make it to the wing night(weekend) as I have really wanted to attend in the past but just hasn't worked out yet. Might as well leave for our trip from there, don't ya think? Love to see those of you I have met and make some new acquaintances from this great community. Keep you posted...

It never fails. Whether spring or fall, Wing Night weekend always seems to coincide with a Magic: the Gathering pre-release weekend. That's a hobby my wife and I share with our kids. Am I doomed to miss all of these?

Can't make it either. Got to work. Enjoy all and maybe "Bigfoot" will show up one night around the camp fire?? Weather looks picture perfect on SAt--- maybe a hint too warm?? Upper 70's with a south wind 10-15mph..

Hey folks,
We're not going to make it unfortunately. Our family weekend is too packed, one child is running a bit of a fever and tomorrow is jammed with kid-activities as well. I travel to the East Coast on Monday so it looks like we'll just have to stay home....and eat those brownies! I owe you all one. Hope it's a great gathering (as usual) of good folks, chatter and refreshments.

Thanks for putting up with my little prank on SoleDad. It was great to meet all of you! I know this weekend is very dear to Matt and I'm happy we were able to be a part of it! Great people, delicious potluck (loved seeing the ice-cream being made and tasting puffballs for the first time), bantering around the fire on some gorgeous Autumn evenings & tenting under the stars was all delightful! Thank you!
