I made it!!! Hands down the most amazing adventure experience I've ever been on! All of your tips were implemented and my CCS pack was an awesome companion! Our 7 year old daughter survived the portages... Some quite tough for her (Mudro-Fourtown batch). I will post up a real trip report soon!

But hey! We survived. I got my paddling arms. Got snowed on and then a few days later was in shorts and tshirt... The fishing was slow for us and everyone we met along the way. Met the nicest people out there and left just a little bit wiser, wanting a few more pieces of gear, and dying to go back already!

That's great to hear Lindsey. Funny,I was thinking about you guys when I saw the snow showers in the forcast. You picked a heck of a time for your first trip. Looking forward to your trip report.

Great! Looking forward to the trip report. We all tweak the gear and stuff after every new trip, but I think you were probably well-prepared for your first trip - certainly more so than a lot of us ;).

Congrats on a successful and adventurous first trip! Beyond a trip report, be sure to make some trip notes - places, weather, date, gear, what worked and what didn't. Can be really helpful for your next few trips, and an amazing read after your twentieth or so trip.

After exiting Mudro on Saturday (May 16), I was wondering how the family of three was coping with the possibility of snow for the upcoming week.

I am assuming that it was you, husband, and daughter that I met at Fourtown/Boot portage. Hope you enjoyed Fairy Lake and look forward to hearing your trip report.

JJ were you the soloist? We had a little white Jack Russell Terrier with as well :) that Fourtown to Boot was the easiest of all of our portages!

Fairy was beautiful!! We did get the east campsite on Fairy and had the lake to ourselves. We stayed there until Tuesday when the weather went back to great!

Yes,

You were one of two groups I met at a portage for my entire two week trip. It was enjoyable not having to be concerned about open campsites for the trip.

You all seemed very spirited after the Mudro/Fourtown... especially single portaging. You looked like you were carrying a tank truck!

Congrats on a successful trip! I can't wait to see some pics, especially of your daughter, taking our kids along is something I truly cherish. Glad to see a winter glued to BWCA.com paid off.

Good to hear! You're right about those portages between Mudro and Fourtown. Not super long, but very rocky and some interesting spots. Very pretty area though if you take the time to stop and look around.

Glad to hear that you had a good trip. I have enjoyed reading your trip prep and nice that it paid off!

October, go early to catch any color and it is beautiful. Snow is an option.
Good to hear you had a great time. And it just gets better.

Awesome! We got to enjoy the snow too! (honestly can't say the rain and cold was enjoyed ;))

In 2012 I had my last big frost in the spring and my first big frost of the fall at the same campsite. I hope you don't see snow in October... But if you do, it'll be memorable.

Glad you enjoyed your trip.
