Yes, I live in Ontario and have fished Algonquin for 40 years....every spring for the last 28. What would you like to know?

I have a nice little route planned this year from Kiosk thru Mink, Club, Mouse, Big Thunder, Erables, Maple, Maple Creek, and back out to Kisok.

Looking for fishing report info or perhaps another route that produces large, and small mouth bass.

No largemouth, but there are smallies in some of those lakes. Kiosk will be your best bet, for size and good numbers as well. Its a motor lake though, so a tad noisy compared to the other lakes. Manitou lake o the southwest of Kiosk is an even better spot for smallies, also has decent lakers in spring.

A good resource map-wise is Jeff's map - www.jeffsmap.com. Free download of an awesome map, showing what fish is in each lake (most of them anyway...). If you have a pdf reader you can download the map for free. By far the best map of algonquin. You can also just look at online of course.

Ask away if you have any other questions.

Thank you very much.
Really looking forward to fishing those lakes. My last time on Mink there was no one for 3 days. Wish I had fished it then.

What fish species do you want to target? Lots of options. Any layover days?

Most familiar with bass fishing from my younger days. Have never fished for walleyes, but am open to it.
We could probably work in a day or two layover.

A great trip would be to do a trip to the Diamond Lake, Lady Evelyn Lake area. north central section. Then a side trip up Maple Mountain. Its one of the highest peaks in Ontario (third highest peak I think). Great views from the top. Diamond has awesome fishing - even though it does have a lodge on it. Tons of big smallies, walleyes, pike, lakers. From the access point at Ferguson Bay, it would take about 3-4 hours to get to Diamond. Spend the first night or two there, then head up the north arm towards Maple Mountain for a day, coming back and camping on one of the lakes at the bottom, next day continue north, pass some waterfalls, then maybe into Lady Evelyn, camping a couple days there, heading east on Lady Evelyn then south then back west to hit Diamond again.

The best info and advice will be found on Ottertooth.com. That route is very nice with great fishing but there are much more remote areas to the northwest if that is what you are looking for.

Hope that helps. I might be doing a base camp trip to Diamond in August. I love that lake.
