I am seeking recommendations for a full length underquilt to fit my warbonnet blackbird. Jacks R Better has caught my attention, but what do you hangers think. 20 degree nights will be my low; too old and circulation isn't what it was for any colder. Full length as the feet get cold first. I like the idea of the protective shell as an add.
Thanks.

I use a JRB full length U/Q with my WBBB. Very pleased with it's performance.

Another vote for the HG Incubator.

Jim, the link was very helpful. Christmas as is coming...I feel the warmth already.

I found that the UQ must be snugged more than you initially think it needs. It took a few deployments to really get the feel for it, but don't be shy about tightening the suspension.

HQ has great under quilts, as do Jacks R Better. I would also suggest Kick Ass Quilts as an option as well.

I also use the HG Incubator.
Like sleeping with an electric blanket. :)

Looking at websites. The UQ protector sounds like a good investment. Their website speaks to condensation but gives no real information. The silnylon would be great if raining hard enough to splash, but most use would not present that concern and weighing the risk of condensation and the down getting damp leads to the breathable version.

What is your experience...input? :-) thanks.

The most useful aspect of the UQ shell is to break the wind before it gets to the UQ so convective heat loss is dramatically reduced. It also keeps dew off the UQ itself. Splash back from the ground is less frequently an issue, bit it does provide that protection also. Any UQ protector that has DWR coating will provide these benefits.

How small do the cold weather UQ pack down to?

I stuff both my HG 20* Incubator along with my 20* Burrow with 2oz over stuff into a 13L GG compression dry bag.

Sounds about right...I think that is the Medium size in the eVent compression sacks I use. I also get my little pillow in with the down. Once in the sack, it can be compressed down to about the size of a 16"softball...maybe a little bigger.

Just completed my Christmas to me order for the HG 20 degree incubator with 2 oz overfill. Now wait for Santa.

Has anyone had experience with underquilts.com and their underquilts/underquilt kits? I currently have around 3 pounds of 600 fill down and I'm hoping to get something together for this spring to take around 30 degrees. If not underquilts.com are there any other recommendations for mostly completed underquilts I can use my down with?

As far as underquilts.com is concerned, check out this thread on Hammock Fourms.
Dave started a round of chemo treatments about a year ago.
