I will be making my 8th trip to the BWCA this fall (Sept) and usually we canoe to the Canadian side near Neal Island around North Bay , but this year we will be staying around Washington Island near Frog Bay and instead of canoes we will have small motor boats. I am a little dissapointed about this because I feel that when we paddle that far back the fishing pressure is less and the fishing will be better. I also like not seeing very many people during the week we fish. I'm just wondering if we should have stuck to our tried and true plan or will we be ok going this route my group chose. I am very excited to get back to the BWCA because the BP oil leak has really messed up my saltwater fishing in Louisiana. Catching speckled trout in the Gulf of Mexico is the only thing that can compete with the fishing in the BWCA. Thanks for your advice and when they get the oil leak stopped and cleaned up please come down to Louisiana and catch some trout you won't be dissapointed.

We camped on the Canadian side of Basswood on our last night in Quetico near Inlet Bay on our last trip. Motor boats zipping back & forth, and someone had a radio playing Country Western Music......you may be dissapointed :-(
