I've been doing some research about freezer bag cooking and I'm wondering if you've tried it and if so what your favorites are.

Stove top with a bag of chicken. Also my wife found some lemon salmon stuff that was good. The orange salmon was awful.

Freezer bag recipies

Sarah is always coming up with new and improved recipies. She's really put a lot of effort into her work. She even included my own FBC Seafood Chowder in her book.

The FBC method is great for my lunches and breakfasts. I still like to cook big elaborate dinners on paddling trips. When backpacking, I use the FBC recipies quite a bit.

I've tried it but in a very limited way with store bought items. I've done Ramen Noodles, Cup-o-Soup, Oatmeal, and Hamburger Helper Singles. I've also done some of her recipes though I don't recall what.

I think it is a good system if you are going very lightweight, especially solo. I'd recommend it though I don't use it often. The solo trips I take now are pretty short in duration.

A crowd favorite is rehydrated ground beef on (instant) mashed potatoes smothered in brown gravy.

I second OBX! That is my favorite meal on trips.

Last summer I did a two week, 100 mile backpacking trip on Isle Royale in Lake Superior. The only meals I packed, besides snacks, were recipes from Freezer Bag Cooking. There was not one night that I was disappointed with my meal.

I HIGHLY recommend that method.

Whiteh2o -- It sure beats chewing on beef jerky skivvies. :-)

Does anyone which recipes work better with a 6 person group. These recipes look great but may be cumbersome for larger groups.

I fed the hamburger/mashed potatoes/brown gravy dish to eight on the last night of a ten day trip. Because it's all dehydrated/dried it weighed almost nothing in my pack and did not take up much space.

Lorax-- thanks for that link. Mogirl, thanks for the thread. I cook for my family from scratch daily-- camping is my time not to focus on food, so easy fast quick to clean up camping recipes are much appreciated.
