Thanks, Mike, for doing this. Before every trip I read your Zulu Magic article that you emailed to me many years ago. Your articles have certainly improved my fishing, but my buddy still out-fishes me 5-1 :-)

Mike,
I've got to say thanks to you for doing this every year. I started fishing Zulu's about 10 years ago after reading about your technique here. My group went in on Crab and on into Cummings. On Crab passing through I caught my first 20" smallmouth. By Cummings I had caught dozens of small mouth and everyone else was nearly skunked and in shock. I showed them what i was doing as we ate lunch on the portage at Cummings and i caught 5 fish in a row from the end of the portage. Then i told them that I had brought enough tackle for everyone. I had a hard time explaining that they needed to do the entire system. Everyone wanted to just hook the Zulu on a jig or whatever. As they finally figured it out We caught so many smallmouth!
Several years later we took an absolute fishing newbie (walmart pole and everything). On the second day i taught him how to rig the Zulu. He ended up with a grandslam and all 4 species were on the Zulu. Your info made his trip too.
Again, thanks for constantly sharing your knowledge to all of us. While i know i will never equal your results I'm a way happier fisherman using your techniques.
