This has been a pretty quiet group for awhile....everyone must be out camping!

I have been tweaking my setup ahead of my August trip. I have had the Warbonnet Ridgerunner for a few years now, really like it as a side sleeper.

Until this year, I had been using a simple Kelty 12 tarp. I set up a ridge line as high as I can reach above the hammock and then anchor the four corners of the tarp. Setup worked well and was fairly simple to set up and take down. I prefer to travel and change camps daily, so set up time is important.

This winter I found a Warbonnet superfly tarp on sale so have been playing with that set up. Overall I like it but do find it can be a bit more work to set up with more anchor points. I can see I would prefer this during shoulder season where I want to block the wind, but in the summer when I want to do more 'porch' mode I may stick with the Kelty.

Anyone, the one big change when going to the Superfly is that I use my ridge line which I have used for clipping up the screen. When setting up the superfly I have been clipping it to the seam, but that seems a little iffy. Just curious how others handle this.

Doesn’t the Superfly have O-rings integrated on the ridgeline for this purpose?

I think if you order the 13’ model it does (not sure about the 11’ version). My 13’ Thunderfly did. When I’m not using my tarp I hook the head end clip to the loop in the bridal just below where my tree straps connect in. I don’t bother at all with foot end and everything works fine. Decent option if your model Superfly doesn’t have the rings.

I must have the 11' superfly, mine does not have any O-Rings. Tundra, that is a good idea and I'll see how that worked next time I have it hooked up.

I have also considered using fishing line w/sewing needle to creat my own loops in a couple places on the seam. I think I can do this without creating a water leak.

I would tread carefully when dealing with a ridgeline.

Do you feel you have adequate coverage with your Superfly on your RR?

Those with a 13' tarp, do you find any issues while setting up in canoe country BWCA/Quetico as far as difficulty with tree spacing, I've always used a 11' superfly with my Ridgerunner and stayed dry through a lot of big storms, but am considering a 12' or 13' model. Is there any reason to even consider a 12', would it make sense just to stay with a 11' if I'm not going to a 13'?

Edit: Just realized the triangles are close to 13' apart so regardless you would need that for tree spacing.

As you realized you will have more than enough room to hang tarp. I have a 13ft SF and I would recommend getting either a external or internal pole modification for more room if you decide to go with a 13

I run an 11 foot DCF Hammock Tarp with Doors over my RR.

I have shortened the Dog Bones several inches on each end and otherwise modified the suspension to fit between closer-spaced trees; this makes the triangles smaller but the 11 footer still does not fully cover those triangles.

That said, it's never been an issue, and it works fine even in bad weather. If I had it to do over again I'd get a 12 or 13 footer, but for the cost I'm keeping what I have.

Total weight of Hammock (with Carbon Fiber spreader bars), suspension, tarp and stakes is 38oz.
