another happy lynx full length user. I also use a klymet full size pad so do not experience much insulation effect in warmer hangs. I suspect venting is more critical in the gathered end hammocks as that insulation wraps around you with the hammock.

Used it early May to late September. Zero regrets."
Do you find in the summer months you having to vent your UQ alittle? "
Nope, I “vent” with the top quilt. Heat rises up. So in early evening when warm I will have my TQ loose, half off, or just pushed aside. As the evening temps drop I get more snuggly with the TQ. Never had to mess with the UQ.

Lawnchair107: "Is it a concensus that the 20*F the workhorse of UQ’s?
I typically travel to the BW in July, so I’m a little weary of buying such a warm UQ and the issues of venting."
That is my view. Sort of a nice “middle-of-the-road” three season quilt.
On hotter nights I wear less clothes e.g. light cotton shorts and t-shirt and on cold nights more clothes e.g. long underwear base layer.
I have had more issues with keeping my shoulders warm on cold nights than anything else which was solved by using the buttons or ties around the collar of the TQ more effectively. I thought they were extraneous at first but learned they have a purpose :-)
I am prepping for my trip in early August and the last 2-3 weeks the evening lows have alternated from 57F to 39F. Feels like perfect 20F quilt range to me…

Lawnchair107: "Thanks for the info, Tipsy. What TQ do you own?"
Have two WB TQs:
1) Diamondback Regular 50” 20F Top Quilt 850 Fill
2) An earlier model before the Diamondback…name escapes me… its also a 20F Fill but a little larger…Large width, 52” or 54” length.
I have been very happy with WB gear. Love the Diamondback TQ

Good to know. I’ve been using a 30*F EE TQ for a couple years. I seem to hardly use it though as like I said earlier our BW times hover around July. Early July temps lately have been high 80’s/ low 90’s in the day followed by 70’s/60’s at night. Oh the conundrum haha

I have a DIY bridge that I made from a kit from RSBTR. I paired it with an REI UQ for a half dome hammock they no longer sell. I had it into the upper 40s in June @ Scout camp. I have 2 TQs - a 20 deg EE Revelation, and a ~50ish deg DIY from a down throw blanket that I made a few years ago. I was almost uncomfortably cool with the summer weight top, but I was intentionally pushing the limits as I had my 20 with me "just in case".
I'm curious to hear what people are using for winter weight systems. Hammocking is something I'd like to get deeper into than niche trips like BWCA.

I’ve recently dived into the rabbit hole of hammocks and bought a Banyon Bridge Hammock. For those wondering - the Warbonnet Lynx underquilt fits alittle tight, so I’ve added some shock cord to the head end.. Perfection.
I’ve been a happy tent camper and will continue to-do so when the time insists, but man is this hammock thing comfy.
