GreatBigCubsFan	02/15/2013 08:27PM I'm thinking of going to plastic next time, I have a 1965 Sears wooden toboggan that I reworked for my trip this year, it has 7 ft of usable space. It seamed heavy and did not slide well even though I had it wax up. It may not have helped the situation that I had it overloaded.

TuscaroraBorealis	02/12/2013 09:54AM Greg, The bags I have are 50th anniversary bags that were on clearance a couple years ago. It's likely they are no longer in stock. I just did a quick search of Cabelas and didn't see anything similar.

Minnesotian	02/08/2013 02:48PM Nice design. Keeping things orderly and accessible is a great skill to have for winter. Am I correct in assuming you don't carry a backpack while trekking? I ask because that is what I do and very similar to your Conover bag, it carries all the essentials needed.
TuscaroraBorealis	02/08/2013 10:19AM I had Dan at Cooke Custom Sewing make me a bag that would ride on top of my toboggan to make things that I might need on the trail easily accessible/storeable. ~First off, it has adjustable straps on either end. (also will be adding some in the middle to keep bag better centered) So, no matter how I lash my toboggan this bag will be able to ride on top of the load. ~There is a huge pocket with large zipper handles (see back of bag in photo) that allow easy, convenient access so I'm able to quickly add/subtract extra layers (hats, mitts, gloves, fleece, parka etc.)without having to unlash my toboggan or worry about those items pulling/falling/ripping off if I just have them tucked under the lashing ropes. Also, I'm able to keep my first aid kit as well as some hand warmers & snacks in there. I also found it works well for those last minute small items that didn't get packed away into the travel duffles. ~ A pocket for my handsaw. So, if we run across any downed timber across a trail, I'll have ready access to my saw. ~ A pocket for my water bottles. Completely lined with thinsulate material to provide an extra measure of insulation prolonging the freezing process. ~ A couple more adjustable straps running over the top of the bag to hold my snow snowshoes, and provide easy access/storage of those on the trail as well.
