I agree with all the comments about the fall and the Little Caribou campsite. One you can see for sure, the other usually is taken and you can only see it from the water. Johnson Falls is the highlight of the trip.

The campsite on Little Caribou is interesting. High up above the lake, the only one on the lake. Because the lake is very small and narrow, the lake feels more like a river, and the site seems like it is almost on a curve or bend in a river.

There is a little area down below where you can sit and reflect, near the water. I called it my reading nook.

Johnson falls was the main focus of my first trip as an adult...it is still one of the best things I have enjoyed in the Bwca. I seem to remember the campsite on little caribou being awesome.

When we were there the water wasn't nearly as high. We didn't swim, but I think it would have been a possibility.

We did a trip in 2007 just to see the falls and there was very high water.

Now go have fun and bring your own photos back. Enjoy.

Johnson Falls is definetely worth going to. There are two major falls, so after seeing the first one keep following the trail to see the second (better one).

If the water flow is normal or low, there is good swimming in the pool below the falls. You still need to watch out for flotsam flowing over the falls. If the water is high ... well, common sense and self perseverance will tell you not to swim there.

It is marshy only above the second falls.

Pic #3 - Upper Falls in very high water.

I'm planning a trip and we're going in on east bearskin (#64) and going to loop counterclockwise through alder, canoe, pine, little caribou, caribou, deer, & moon.

What I'm wondering is about Johnson falls off of pine. Is it worth stopping to check out? Is swimming there any good? It looks a bit marshy.

If anyone knows of anything else worth checking out on this loop, it's appreciated!
