A two month old in canoe country! Now that takes cashews! Big thumbs up for taking the baby in. Sounds like a wonderful time. Nice report. where did you get the "pea pod"?

There's always money in the banana stand.

Great report. Wow! So young to be in the wilderness. She looks great in the bow of the canoe. Love the Pea Pod. Where were those when my kids were younger? Pretty special to see a moose like that. Congrats on a successful trip!

What a fabulous trip! Glad the wind cooperated. Cool to see the older kids finding something special too. All Vickie's research seemed to pay off, and the zip lock solution was priceless - perfectly simple and effective. Aurora is one lucky bear cub!!

I'm pretty sure we got the pea pod at Babies R Us? Vickie would know for certain.

This trip would not have seen the light of day without all of Vickies' pre-trip research and planning. Not to mention her self sacrificing attitude while on the trip. Words have not yet been defined that can adequately express my degree of thanks & gratitude.

Last year I had asked Hannah and Colton what they would like to do/see this year while in the BWCA. Hannah wanted to see a waterfall and Colton wanted to see wild life. I was happy that they were both able to achieve their desired objective on this one trip.

For me-The waterfall is one of my favorites I have been blessed to see in the BWCA. Very secluded and yet given the right time of day, the sun would shine down through the open canopy above, allowing one to sit in the "bath" tub at the top of the falls, soaking up the rays and relaxing to the wonderful solitude provided by nature. Unfortunately, I was not there at the correct time to enjoy the addition of the sun. None the less, it was still a wonderful spot.

For me this trip was one that was bittersweet. I longed for more.

Raingearright-yes I picked up the Pea Pod at Babies R Us. They are available on-line at many different retailers.

Sounds like you had a fantastic trip and I love that ziplock bag McGyver solution to keep your precious cargo dry!

I am truly inspired by this report. Bookmarked as possible first trip for my boys.

I wonder..... Does anyone know if the waterfall has an official name? Like Curtain, Johnson, Eddy etc.

Just got back from another trip to this area.

Since the father-in-law wanted to get a taste of what canoe country was all about - we ended up car camping at Two Island lake campground, and just did day trips. My Bending Branches double bladed paddle proved to be invaluable.

Besides Brule & Two Island, we made it back to Bath lake & hiked back to Olson lake from the campground. The weather was on the cooler side (at least for July), but everyone enjoyed themselves.

Surprisingly (for this time of year) the roadside around the campground was full of wild strawberries & Aurora perpetually gorged herself. (Although, I managed to hide a few away so Vickie could add them to her muffins before baking.)

We revisited Brule bay and Aurora's first ever BWCA campsite. (Which, ironically, would become her Grandpa's first as well.) She was even able to make the trip back to the waterfall this time. And, Grandpa made it as well! I think Vickie took special satisfaction in this; as this is one of her all-time favorite spots.

Although it wasn't what we originally had planned, it was still a great trip & I'm glad we were able to fulfill the father-in-laws main objective - see the BWCA for himself.

As always TB-- Good Stuff. Sometimes we have to stop and smell the roses at other places on the outside of the BW so others can enjoy also. Fishing the Twin Lakes N of 2island is on my list of things to do.

Lackadaisically. Now there's a word not heard too often. :)
Caulk up more fond memories to an ever-growing collage on your family clan. Great pictures.

Thank you!

Personally I would've also liked to investigate the other 2 lakes near Bath too. :) But, was happy we were able to do & see what we did.

It was a whole different dynamic - car camping. But in that respect - Two Island campground was much quieter (less people) than Sawbill or Crescent have been when staying at those campgrounds.
