Camp Notes:
Enjoyed this camp. It's kind of a tale of two cities. The campfire / kitchen area is nothing special, and very wide open. Pretty hard to put a tarp there. Some of the tent pads up the hill are absolutely gorgeous. I saw moose four times in 3 days. And they were all different animals and appeared at all times of the day. It was not terribly busy with paddlers so solitude is a plus. This is not a site for a person who has difficulty with elevation. There's a decent climb up to the campsite and a little bit more of a climb up to the tent pads. So if you have difficulty climbing with equipment, this would not be the site for you. All in all it's not a bad sight, and I enjoyed my trip. But there's certainly others in The Boundary Waters with more character.

Really nice elevated site with water on three sides. Decent landing, 2-3 good tent spots, 1-2 more that might be rain collection points. The lake is generally shallow, but there can be good fishing at the narrows (Temperance River) to the north - and I saw a bull moose cross the narrows.

The site view is a 4-5 rating. Probably would have multiple moose sitings if staying there. The tent pad situation could be better. A lot of uneven ground - personally I would be in a hammock or bring a thick tent pad. There are fishing opportunities on either side of the peninsula. The latrine was a trek but the throne is new. Do not drink a lot or have small children on this site as there are many falling dangers. Steep on all sides.

Good site on Jack Lake. Its elevation makes for good views up and down Jack. Three tent pads and a couple places for hammocks.

Steep climb from the landing. Elevated large open grassy site that provides decent views north & south. As mentioned, bring lots of rope for the tarp. Nice fire grate area, although it is not facing the lake. Site will likely be quite buggy in warmer weather.

Great view from this site. Kitchen is wide open. Have lots of line for putting up a tarp.

Campsite is in a nice area but the site is nothing special. The ground is rough and it is a little hard to get a smooth tent pad. There are 3 tent pads available if I remember correctly. This picture is taken from the campsite looking out at the island in front.
