Last year I went over backwards in my XLC after getting up to relieve my bladder in the middle of the night . Much to my dismay, I popped the zipper off of the hammock itself and the zipper hardware was left attached to the bug net. There was no way to get it back on the hammock. I suffered though three nights of skeets and an unknown amount of spiders eaten, if I had to guess I'd say 34.

I sent it off to HQ last week and was informed today that they couldn't repair it due to the "age" of the hammock and not having a zipper in stock that would fit it. I was a little perturbed as the XLC is the newest gathered end design WB offers. I bought mine right when they were released and I can't imagine the design has changed so much that the zipper they currently use won't fit on my edition. Anyway, it's not repairable according to them and i was offered a discount on a new hammock. Great. Just when I thought I was done buying gear.

After a little deep thought I decided I wanted to try something new and ordered a double layer ridgerunner. I would rather have my gathered end hammock repaired for a fee than a new hammock but it's leaps better than most companies who don't try to help out their customers. They very well could have said the hammock was not repairable and just mailed it back.

If you've read this far, good job! Here's my question. Has anybody here had any experience with the ridgerunner? Tips, or hacks? I have a superfly(x2) that I plan on testing out with it as I'd rather not have three hammock tarps by buying a cloudburst. Also I'm planning on using my incubator and wondering if anyone has used this or similar UQs with this bridge or any bridge and can give me some insight.

Congrats on reading all of my longest post ever,
RGR

sorry no specific information on your questions. But, as far as the XLC. Sewing and some camp stores sell replacement zipper hardware. Also, I have fixed zippers in field by unzipped as far as I can, using a flat blade screw driver I pried open the zipper pull. place it back over zipper and use pliers to crimp it back closed. ive done this successfully. If that doesn't work seamstress can replace the entire zipper.

I used this company 2qzq to add zippers to my bottom entry Hennessy hammocks. Did a great job. Could probably fix yours.

Thrilled to hear you're joining the RR club. It is by far my favorite hammock! There are plenty of videos on the WB site telling you how to hang it properly. Personally, I use the extra insert at the head end to keep it taught. I made a few bags to slip the poles into for transport. Tip: slide one of the foot end poles into the head end to cut down from 4 to 3 long tubes, just don't forget you did it and panic! (may have some first hand experience). If you have trekking poles you use often those are a nice upgrade to cut out the need for poles all together. Play with the lie a bit and work out if you'd rather use a pad or an UQ. If you go the UQ route, consider getting the Lynx from WB or making your own as I did. A regular UQ is WAY too wide and will restrict you use of one of my favorite features, the saddle bags. I can get all my cloths and trinkets in the side bags or the one behind my head. I'm 6' and It fits perfect with a little room to spare. I'm looking forward to hearing what you think of it. I haven't looked at any new hammock versions that have been released since I got mine and don't imagine I ever will aside from buying a backup if someone steals mine. WELCOME to the BEST night of sleep ever!

I'll try the old screwdriver zipper pry, cant mess it up worse. I contacted 2qzq and they dont mess with warbonnet hammocks.

After a few back yard hangs I like it. Nice flat lay and the view out of it is great. My HG Incubator fits well with a small s-biner hooked off each corner of the quilt. I have a Superfly that seems to cover it ok. Its a little tight by the bars. I think I can get to to work with the right site and enough cord but I hate having cord going all over the place. Wish WB made a sort of end cap for the bars to help protect against bar/tarp contact.

I'm contemplating a new tarp. Vader, what do you cover your RR with?

Tarp Pole Mod is the idea behind what I use. You can obviously order it all made for you but I've sewn my own onto my DIY tarp. I did it at the exact place where a poles stick out. If I did it again, I'd make the gap between the poles a little longer so I didn't have to be so exact when hanging the tarp. If you don't have confidence with a sewing machine I'd for sure recommend getting one from them. In canoe camping it's totally worth the extra weight. If you're backpacking it's easy to just use a stake and guy lines to pull out the sides. It does mean there is some extra rope, but that's just part of the deal. If you hate extra rope, try using amsteel and making inline locks to save time and use less rope. It also doesn't tangle at all!

Gave it a look. Heres the link Looks like this might do the the trick for my superfly. I might just bite the bullet and by a cloudburst tarp from Warbonnet. New gear is fun right? thanks for the info.
