It depends on the park. While a vast majority of state and national parks permit hammocks, some do not. For example, national parks with extremely small trees in their camping areas may ban hammocks. Florida state parks now require 2" straps.
Best bet is to check with the park ahead of time.

Thanks for the quick reply. I just ordered 2" straps! I didn't find any more strict regulations than the 2" straps - as you said some states and parks do not allow hammocks at all.
