This year I will start my trip June 17th. My previous trips have been in September, with highs in the 50's or low 60's. Do you guys have summer quilts, or will I be ok with my 20 degree under and top quilt towards the end of June? I know it can still be cold that time of year, so I will add the question of July and August. What night time temps make you want to change to a lighter quilt?

I use a 20 degree under quilt and a 30 degree top quilt whenever I go during the three seasons I camp. Loosening the under quilt will provide the cooling in summer and the top quilt can be moved around as necessary.
Watch out for that rock!!!........ Oooo.... That's going to leave a mark...

Thanks, I never seem to have trouble justifying buying new gear...but my wife does. So I will be tripping in June with the 20 degree quilts, loosen the UQ for ventilation if needed. Maybe next year I will get some 40 or 50 degree quilts.

in BWCA I use a 20F top and full length 20F uq in spring and fall, but I sleep very cold. I vent the TQ if I get too warm. I also have a silk liner to help regulate my temperature, if there is a breeze. I use the same set up in September. What I change the most is what type of clothes I sleep in. Summer thin very light wear, in the fall type 2 under armor and stocking cap. I always wear wool socks.

So I should bring along that TQ is what you're saying

Update
I am back from the trip, and I am so glad I had 20 degree quilts. I think I only had to pull off the top quilt one night, and it was pulled up snug later that night. Temps were probably in the high 40s to low 50s most nights, and with the wind I was happy to have the warmth. Temp was regulated by what I slept in clothing wise. Some nights just underwear, one night was long johns.

I just ordered a hammock gear 20 degree incubator. No more pads!! I'm sure it will last my lifetime so I feel good about dropping the $250. I froze my whole body off one night in 2012 when it got below freezing and I was using my 1/8 inch closed cell pad.
I'll take the 20 degree quilt on all and any 3 season trips. If really warm out you just let it lay loose.

quote gymcoachdon: "That is the same underquilt I have. I am very happy with the quality and function. 21 oz in its stuff sack if I recall correctly. I have slept with it down to 27 degrees, and only my face got cold."
Good to hear!

Just returned from my trip. This year my wife and I ditched the sleeping pads and made the DIY Costco underquilts. For mid summer use they were perfect and also stuff super small-about the same size as my Eno double nest. If you can sew at all, like even a little and see the down throws at Costco I'd highly recommend this project!
