Car camping is not my thing, but here are pics of two metal pipe hammock stands with a custom-made tarp that might be used for hot tenting (sorry, should I have said "hot hanging"?).

The hammock stands are made from anondized metal pipe. Unfortunately, the guy who made them is no longer in business. The cover tarp is made by Squidbelly (on hammockforums.net).

I am just posting these pic's here in the thought that somebody might get some new ideas.

The rolling carry-on on the beach sand kills me.

But that is actually a really cool idea- making the hammock stand part of the tent structure. There would be a ton of room in there during the day when you weren't sleeping-- and plenty of room for a stove.
