I would like to note my appreciation for the person(s) who initiated and maintain this site. This is a very useful forum for everything related to enjoying the Boundary Waters/Quetico experience. I eagerly await new posts regarding great fishing areas and stories. It is still only February and I find my mind constantly wandering to experiences of past trips there and my upcoming July trip. Needless to say...I can't wait...but I must be patient for the shorline ice of Milwaukee's Lake Michigan is only continuing to build and the groundhog told me that there is much more time remianing for winter.
For those interested, I am currently reading Listening Point by Sigurd Olson. Olson was a naturalist in the first half of the 20th century. Olson absolutely loved the BW and wrote very detailed accounts of its wonder and his timed shared there. Listen Point is an account of his time in the BW. Olson is an excellent read. I just finished the chapter titled Laughing Loon...did you know that loons, common to only the northwoods, have 3 distintive calls? The one that intrigues me most is the call which, as Sigurd wrote, 'is the wail often mistaken for the howl of a wolf, and of much the same quality'. This call signals the mate of the nesting pair to come to the nest for relief. To me, I find this detail very interesting and anticipate the first loon howl I hear as I paddle wide eyed over Mudro in July.
Again, thanks those those people who keep-up this site. Its worth grows with each additional post.

Horzverti,
I feel the same way about this site and check it almost every day for new posts. The advice and information I've received from visitors here has been very helpful with trip planning.
Best regards,
Aug

I agree this site is wonderful as it stays on topic more then some of the other sites that wander off a bit.
I have gotten and shared advice and information and appreciate all of you who do the same. Tell your friends about BWCA.com and lets work hard to keep it an on-topic board. It is starting to grow in members nicely and word of mouth will build it even more.
Spread the word to the trustworthy BWCAW canoers and travellers that you know.

I agree as well! I look forward to all the info that I have read from others & some of it is a great help & very interesting. It also helps for planning future trips. I will be taking my 8th trip up to BWCA in the last 9 years. I always like to try new entry points every year. Makes for new experiences every time.
Looking forward to hearing more info & questions from all of you!
Love all the wildlife I see! Probably my favorite part of the BWCA!
(Of course good fishing always helps!)
Take Care!
