so last year's trip the first night in we were forced to use a recently (within a year or two) burned site. No trees for hanging a hammock. My McGyver instincts kick in.
I have a CCS 10x12 tarp, an ENO bugnet, lots of rope, and some chewing gum. There has to be a way to rig a shelter. Anybody already have a plan B that they want to share?
I had several campsites that did not work well for hang'n last week. On one campsite that I could find a spot to work, it had enough moose plumbs both fresh and old between the two trees. Didn't think that I wanted to hang there. We are talking corn scoop shovels full. Could have filled the back end of an S10 pickup.
Had another camp that I will be posting "worst hang" pics soon. It was just over 9' between trees.
I'm sure glad that I took my original straps for the WBBB with my new woopies. I had a couple hangs that I had to go over 22' between trees. I was still able to get the correct angle but without that long reach, it would have been to the ground for sure.
I was in some burn areas and tried for portions that had not burned. Can't imagine what it would be like in the busy season.
I did almost go to the ground a couple times. I have never had this much trouble hanging before.
