I haven't until now. Did a bit of searching on google and haven't found any bad reviews. Decent price too.

Not familiar with DD Hammocks.

I note that they are UK based. I wonder how the exchange rate affects the real cost.

1 pound = $1.40

I have their underquilt and sleeping bag. Not bad products for the money. Will definitely keep you warm on a cold night. They ship to the u.s. in about three days. And their customer service is outstanding.

I see no reason to buy from a company in England when we have so many wonderful cottage vendors here. Most of the time the Brits are buying from companies in the U.S. as well.

Would $70-$180 savings for a comparable product that is used one week out of the year influence your decision? It does mine.

The residents of the U.K. have been some of our best allies for the past 100 years. I would no more hesitate to buy from a British company than I would to buy from their Canadian daughter.

Don't get me wrong, I love the English, I'm only saying that I don't think they are of the same quality of say Warbonnet, Hammockgear and the other cottage manufacturers we have on this side of the Atlantic. It's hard to tell on their site, but it appears that the fabric DD is using is PU coated polyester instead of sil-nylon. As always, you get what you pay for.

Hmmm interesting. They have a 4 x 4 meter tarp that will only cost me $65! Wow. That is a good price and it looks like quality stuff to me. It has ridgeline loops on top! Sweet!
I just might be ordering that and I'll let you know how the quality is.

Thanks for the link.

A quick comparison to CCS tarps - a 10 x 12 will run you over $200. The weight is comparable to the DD product.

Regarding the material, it's the difference between polyester and sil-nylon. Seems like the weight is the same.

Unshavenman, I do respect your choice to buy American made. Why do you think the sil-nylon is a better product? I'm genuinely interested to know the difference. Thanks

I'm not an expert, but this is from this site back in 2012 from Dan Cooke of Cooke Custom Sewing:

Materials of tarps
Nylon, Polyester,polyethylene Tyvek
Coatings of material Vinyl, Urethane, Silicon
All materials have a tear strength, in cloth it is measured once a tear is in the fabric how much force it takes to continue the tear. Polyester is weaker than nylon in equal weigh of material. measured in Denier in the US. The weight of fabric is typically expressed in weight per square yard before coating in the US. example; 1.9 Oz nylon fabric weighs 1.9 ox per square yard before coating, and 1.1 is 1.1 oz per square yard. The 1.9 Nylon is typically a 70 denier fabric, the 1.1 is typically a 30 denier nylon. Nylon has a typical type 6 nylon formulation, or can be made with a type 6.6 nylon for added tensile strength. Commercial 70 denier 1.9 oz cloth uncoated typically has a 15 lb tear strength. put urethane coating on it and it weakens it down to 5.5lbs tear strength. Put a silicon coating on it and it stays at 15 lb tear strength.
Type 30 denier nylon can be purchased in type 6 or type 6.6. with all silicon coating or urethane on one side silicon on the other or one side urethane. A type 6.6 1.1 30 denier nylon double coated silicon can have a tear strength at 15 lbs. put the urethane on 6.6 1.1 oz cloth and you are down to 3-4 lbs.
Bottom line, know what you getting for what you decide you pay.
CCS 1.1 and 1.9 Tarps are constructed the same way, just two different weights of cloth.

I love my DD Frontline. I also have the UQ and TQ. I do not have their tarp , I use WB SuperFly

I have tried DIY, Hennessy , ENO and couple others and DD is my favorite.

No high "wall" of material , bug net is off your face and allows you to sit up and see out.
I'm 5' 9" 250 lb , probably not best choice for tall folk. Also not the lightest option.
Craftsmanship is excellent however the include webbing is not the greatest. My suspension is AHE tree straps with Dutch buckle and whoopie slings.

They ship from Edinburgh Scotland (shipping included in price and usually arrives in 2-3 days via Fed Ex), but I believe the are probably made in Far East.

When looking at their website click on US flag icon for USD pricing

Compare to Claytor mosquito hammock

The price difference is what caught my eye. Like someone else said for something that may not get used to much, it's an awesome price for what seems to be a well reviewed product. When I first got my hammock I didn't factor in the under quilt and I did have some sticker shock

Ordered a tarp and underquilt. It arrived in 2 days. They must have a US warehouse

Have you tried them out yet? Please post a review and lots of pictures. I am especially interested in the packed size of the UQ.

I don't think so- If you look at the shipping label - It comes from Scotland

Which make the price even better for such great products arriving so quick - since shipping is included!

I saw the label and was kind of being sarcastic because it amazed me at how fast it arrived. I live 15 minutes from an Amazon fulfillment center and I don't receive items that fast from them. Products look solid, can't wait to try them out

kingsuper20, what is the coldest you have slept in using their underquilt?

Sorry I have been offline for a bit. Into to the mid 20's with their underquilt and jura 2 bag. In the 30 degree range I left the bag open and used it as a top quilt. It's all about adjusting the underquilt to fit. I have yet to test it any lower.

I think the photo is sideways. I tried to change it with no luck. This is with my hammock in packed and attached to the underquilt. It's a hammock bliss with the netting on it. I'll be upgrading that soon.
