On the portage from Trease into Angleworm be careful at the portage path junction. The portage you are on will come in from the right-the portage from the angleworm entry point parking lot will come in from the left. There used to be signs which have been removed but people have written and carved names onto the wood posts that still exist.
If you are headed to the Angleworm Lake put in you need to take the path that heads down hill to the left. The path ahead to the right goes around the east shore of Angleworm and the hiking trail. The one coming in from the left heads back to Angleworm parking lot. Check the posts for direction-it is faint but it is marked.
As you head on the path to the Angelworm put in understand this path also serves as a hiking trail around the lake. You will portage the hiking trail for about 80 rods and then take the spur trail that heads downhill to the right to the put in. It is a fairly steep initial downhilll to the entry.
It is a hard, long portage coming from Trease but Angleworm is worth it. If you have an opportunity to camp on Angleworm take the site half way up the lake on the eastern shore. It has a number of logging camp artifacts in camp and back away from camp. Go back along the spur towards the hiking trail and see the old Fuel tanks and pump. If you stay for a day take a hike or get to the western shore and hike up to where the old Forest service lookout tower was. There is a geologic marker as well as old cable, tie downs and stuff from when the tower was there-plus the view is outstanding.
Enjoy the trip. It is a very pretty part of the BW.
