We traveled these lakes a few years ago when returning the the South Arm of Knife as the wind was howling out of the west. We camped at the west end of Spoon on the south shore. There is a healthy population of pike in that lake for sure. We also saw a cow and calf moose in the beaver ponds on the NE corner of the lake. I don't think the DNR reports show them but I remember someone saying there are lakers in Missionay but they are generally small.

That's a beautiful chain of lakes--a nice contrast with busy Knife Lake to the north. Missionary has a small population of small lake trout. The others only have pike and white suckers, as far as I know.

Camped on Missionary lake one opening weekend decades ago, made a mistake of leaving to loaves of bread on a rock for a short time,Gulls stole the loaves on the first day of camping. Also got checked by Mn DNR conservation officers on that lake-all was fine. Yes small lakers exist there.
Skoota is more of a mystery to me. Bushwacked from Missionary to a small bog lake and caught nothing.

I know this is an old thread, but couldn't find much on these lakes when doing my research. We spent 3 nights on Spoon last week of July 2022. Fished it pretty hard and only caught pike. Lots of healthy pike like 28-29". Stayed on the SE campsite, couldn't catch anything from shore, got checked by the Rangers but other than that had the lake to ourselves besides the occasional travler. I trolled a taildancer through Missionary on our way through and caught a 3-5lb LT. I also had two others hooked on, but my paddle mate wouldn't stop in the head wind on our travel day. We were trying to beat the storms. There was a family staying in dix on the south side said they loved the camp site.
