excellent report Guts....
Quetico looks like the place to try next time....I'm looking at the possibility of adding a trip north of Crooked ...

I can't remember when I read a trip report that so vividly recreated in my mind the excursions my son and I have made to the Bdub. I now am committed to a Quetico trip. We are transplanted Minnesotans now living in Seattle, so we share your admiration for the "real" Northwoods.

Fishguts,

Very nice report. It sounds like you guys had some good luck with your camp site selection. I have tried to camp at that same Brent site 2x over the years and it has always been taken. Your report really takes me back as I have been on some of the same lakes--thanks!

One thing I noticed---I think you are missing a day on your report. You have two days with the same report---I think it is the day you moved from Darky to William as there is nothing written about that part of your trip.

Dear Tim,
Thanks! I have corrected the omission...Darkey to William is now OK
Thanks again.

Great report Fishguts! Enjoyed reading about your trip, sounds like you had a memorable time! I am not good at taking notes, and worse about recording the good times I have had. Thanks, ro

Thanks for the great report. I especially enjoyed the pictures with each day's description. Sounds like the three of you were in a Souris River Quetico 18.5 canoe. How did you like it? I have thought about renting one, and wondered how much gear capacity you have with three people in the boat. Sounds like you were able to fit four packs in. Any comments on your ride?

Dear Knothead,

We loved our Souiris 18.5 Kevlar Canoe, we found it stable. We had never paddled a kevlar canoe before...Old Aluminum Officianados...It was great! We are not small people....my son & I both over 200Lbs. and we had 11 days worth of stuff in 4 packs, and we had Crazy Creek seatbacks, and a fair amount of fishing gear too.And with all our stuff we didn't feel too crowded or overloaded. Also it paddled like a dream...seemed to just keep on gliding...We highly recomend them.

Fishguts,

I was reading your report again trying to follow along with my maps (not too many reports get me to take out the maps), and I am not sure what you are talking about on McIntyre lake. You refer to "Cedar Point Camp" and "Carolyn Bay" haven't heard those terms before and could not find them on the maps. Care to share where Carolyn Bay and Cedar point Camp are located?

Dear Tim,
The information about this campsite comes from the message jar at the Cedar Point Campsite....I found out about this site on line from a friend from Kentucky. Here's a map of the campsite...with the location of the message jar....Carolyn Bay is the bay in behind the camp....trout located off the camp...here's pictures too!! A nice spot!

Fishguts,

Thanks for the info---you're Quick--I wonder how your friend found out the names for these areas? I have now noted them on my map maybe someday I will check them out.

Too many lakes too little time.

Tim,
I think the guy who started the messsage jar, named the bay after his wife....I'm just guessing on that but I think it might be .
