I am thinking about traveling into Lake Insula to set base camp. I plan on entering @ Lake One. I was wondering if anyone can help with route information. Is it easy travel both ways? My only concern is really the area between Lake Four and Insula. I am new to that area and dont know the small details. Any information will be extremely appreciated

I have done that trip twice in the last 3 years. The only difficult part of the trip is the portage from Hudson to Insula. And that can be made easier by packing properly and not bringing useless gear. Can't remember total rods but it might be less than 1/2 a mile. It has some steep walking but take your time and wear proper shoes or boots. I love that trip and Insula is one of my favorites. We left Lake One around 8 a.m., and got to our camp around 5 p.m. The farther back you go the more secluded it gets. If you have any more questions I would be glad to answer if I can.

Have fun,

Aug
