I have spent too many uncomfortable nights just waiting for morning so I can get up. For a few years now I've had a very nice soft Big Agnes air mattress and sleeping bag that I love. What a step up they were from the self inflating pads and REI mummy bags we'd had since our honeymoon 30 years ago! My middle aged bones just can't get comfortable on the ground any more.
Received an unexpected check and so am seriously considering spending it to join the ranks of you "hangers". I probably should find a single to borrow to try first.

Sunny Day,
I am new to the hammock. I've spent 3 nights in the hammock (only slept 1 1/2 nights, stories elsewhere). I was hooked from the first moment, even if I haven't got it totally figured out yet. After night #2 in which I gave up at 5:30 a.m. Not having slept more than a half hour, my wife commented that she thought I was making a mistake. Well, I've spent the first 45 years of my life learning to sleep in a tent and still wake up sore. I think that in 3 nights I've dialed in my hammock enough to at least top a better night on the ground. I spent some time today tying bright yellow cord and some shock cord tensioners to my fly to replace the black cord that was on there. I'm ready for a week in the woods.
A double hammock would be awesome. My one wish is to go a week just me and the Mrs., the problem is that going with her means sharing the tent, meaning sleep on the ground again. But I got a Cub Zip with my hammock, so I'm thinking of adding some woopie slings and better webbing to make it capable of supporting a bit more than it is rated for. Maybe I'll get her to like the hammock too.

I would see if I could track one down to try out. There is a learning curve with hammocks but like stated above my worst night in a hammock is by the best night sleeping in the woods. Over at the hammockforums website you could write up a post and see if there was anybody in your area that has one to try. The first time I brought my son the the BWCA he slept in a hammock right next to mine under one tarp, in fact he was sooooo close that every time he rolled around it woke me. Night two he was under his own tarp, two in the same hammock is going to transfer motion to other sleeping in it. I have heard good things about the Clark hammocks never tried one though. Good luck

Thanks for the advice. I have been doing lots of reading here and on hammockforums. There was actually a review with pictures from someone who bought a vertex. He said sleeping partner didn't notice too much transfer of motion. Not a lot of information after he went camping.
My husband, Bellolake is happy to go along with what makes me happy and good at figuring out details. He likes new toys too :) A hammock would be good for him to take on cycle trips too.
Still in research mode, but its fun to think of something different that might make camping comfortable again.

Thank you, I did. I have seen and read so much about Clark and other hammocks my head is spinning. Making myself wait till we try sleeping in a single hammock to see if we like it before spending money.
I have lots of sites added to my favorite lists with lots of info to study, even diy supplies , sorry, I don't remember who suggested that site, but some things seem pretty easy to make with their instructions and supplies.
Didn't know this hanging bug would be so catchy!!

Careful, you can go from knowing nothing about hammocks to having three, along with tarps, spools of amsteel, shock cord and webbing lying about, all in about 6 weeks.
Yep, it's entirely possible. And very doable.
Yep. It sure is.
I'm not slurring my words. I'm talking in cursive.

My brother got one when they 1st came out. He used it on a couple of BWCA trips so far. It is him & his younger son... he loves it. I have laid in it with my wife & it seems pretty nice.

I showed my wife this and her eyes lite up. That never happens when I show her gear! Summer gear funds were spent last year but I'll be picking one of these up this fall. We've tried hanging next to each other and it's not always doable. This might be no different but it sure looks cool. Wonder if a superfly would be able to cover it?
There's always money in the banana stand.

Happy wife, happy life!
Or...Happy spouse, happy house!
I was also thinking a bigger fly would be better.
Thanks for the review Woods Walker.

This looks like a good idea too.
Honeymoon suite
Here are his plans for the tarp, which looks like it would work over a vertex. He did alter them and added a vestibule.
