mummy since i have sold off my old pads i was in the market for a new one.
i have exped pads my wife and i use for tent camping.
i made an underquilt and had great success with it this spring on a solo trip in may, but it was heavy and bulky.
i also have an exped solo tent i take on my solo trips it the weather forecast is for cold.
i am looking forward to trying this pad in my hammock. i really like the shape as it should fit nicely with the tapered ends.
with the undercover from 2qzq, it could be the nice small layer of warmth i am looking for. i'll keep you posted.

What is your underquilt made out of? I use a KAQ jarbidge that I bought really cheap, I believe $50, along with a REI brand sit pad for my feet. Bulk is a little bigger but weight is deffinetly not an issue. Dou you have a double layer hammock? I have had luck with pads in a double layer but always seem to have issues when I try in a single layer. Like you said keep us posted.

last night here in ne iowa the temp dipped right below 50. so i grabbed my big a pad and hh and watched the stars in the backyard. i felt the warmth of the fill, and the shape of the mummy fit the hammock very nicely. i am glad i went with the mummy for the hammock.
it got chilly from above as i just had a thin blanket.

I hate sleeping with any kind of mattress in my hammock. All I've ever ended up doing is slipping and sliding all around, and, in fact, it was just a PITA.
Just get a decent, tight fitting UQ rated for your cold weather needs and be done with it.
Pay a lot = get a lot. And all kinds of comfort.
I absolutely abhor trying "alternatives" when it normally just saves a bunch of time and hassle to get the right thing in the beginning.
