I am so ready to go back. I was there in Sept. and thought they would have to tranquilize me to get me to leave. Best fishing in my life, every time I go! Does that make sense to anyone? We are going back in July for two weeks. I hope that will be enough time!
You are not the only one. I had my best year ever with 5 extended trips and a couple of days trips (4 BWCAW, 1 Quetico). I know I am very fortunate to live close enough to go so often, I thank my lord everyday for the opportuntiy he has given me.
I am not sure next year will be as good, but I do have 2 trips planned already and trying to find time for more. (My 2 trips will add up to less than 2 weeks though so I do need more)
What we both have and most everyone who goes knows is a condition not an obsession. Some may not agree with my perspective, but my body and soul need what the BWCAW and Quetico offer to sustain itself. Without it I will become ill and not survive. Because of this I consider it a condition I have not an obsession.
Don't let my wife read this she will disagree as she says it is an obsession-but at least it is a healthy one.
I found a partial cure for the -- uh -- well, if not obsession I can't think of a word that fits. I have agreed to cook on Monday nights as long as the wife allows me to cook 'canoe food.' This gives her a night off and gets me some (much needed?) practice. Next week it's the new foil packaged beef with Velveta Shells and Cheese....
This - along with the continual map reading and trip planning should get me through till spring. Oh, did I mention gear shopping and the March trip to Canoecopia . . .
