Sunday May 25, 2014 Tuscarora Lake. My last night in the Bounday waters. What a great view.

photo is a view from the waters edge looking towards my hammock.

Very nice. You have that canoe tied down right?

Sweet Tony......I just spent 8 nights on the ground :( Stayed in the lean with my son this first trip. But going to get the bird out this week, only 8 weeks until my solo. Got some new snake skins for my Superfly that I need to figure out.

Certainly one of the perks of hanging eh? Nothing better than waking up and being able to just poke your head up and see all your surroundings!

Did you actually need that underquilt?
What were the night time temps?

Yes, the night time temps for the first few nights were in the low forties /high thirtys. It didn't take to long to figure out when the quilt slipped off to one side. I think the under quilt is more important than the sleeping bag I had. I could have used my forty degree bag for the last few days.

Let me know how you like the snake skins. I thought about them but not sure I would actually use them.

I just set the canoe there while I packed. I did keep a careful eye on it though.

I came out the same day from a five day solo. I used my WBBB XLC and slept as well as I ever have in the woods. I used my underquilt also as I was a bit nippy the first couple nights.

Tony, snake skins are the answer. They make unpacking the tarp super clean. I string my tarp and don't deploy it until the threat of rain or winds. Takes 3 minutes to pull one skin back, stake each coner, pull the other skin back and stake those comers. I give them the the RGR seal of approval.
