Why does it take so long for June to come back around where I can come back to the BWCA? Here it is October, Fall turkey season is about to open, Duck season opens next month... two of my favorite things to do. Yet, the idea, the thought of paddling through the BWCA getting lost in the islands of Lake Insula,... ha ha!! Catching Walleye and smallmouth, and the beautiful scenery keeps me going back to my pictures and wishing I was there... Anyone else suffer from this condition? What do you do to remedy it... or can you remedy it?

I have the same problem. Only differents was my trip was only a few weeks ago in Sept. I've already started planning next years trips and going in May so I don't have to wait so long this year. Another thing I did was I created a Quetico room in my home. A 12 x 12 room that has maps, pics, fishing gear/ packs , everything you can imagine as long as it has something to do with Quetico. I keep adding and moving things in the room all the time. My next plan in here is to create a tent effect in the room. So when I walk into the room it's like being inside my tent. One other thing I'm working on is a screen saver which looks like a campfire. Drop me an email if your interested in some ideas. queticoii@hotmail.com

Cool ideas... I have a picture of the waterfall between Cattyman and Gibson as wallpaper on my computer at work and it keeps reminding me of when I was there, and the beauty of the place. Everyone at work wants a copy for their computer too. I keep searching everyday (when I can...) on the websites and bulletinboards for more information concerning the BWCA. Also, I am getting more items to outfit my own trips. Things like nylon tarps, packs, stoves, and tents. Last year I bought a Souris River Quetico 18.5 in Duralite and love it. It is almost an obsession... not really but, I do love the BWCA and everything about it. It is truly one of the most peaceful areas I have ever found. Sad thing is I live so far away in Arkansas. May have to move to Minnesota, or at least a little closer when I retire, but that is still several years away.

I feel the same way, can't wait to get back up there. I usually go with the same group of guys, thinking of taking my family next year so I can go twice - Spring & Fall. For me the draw is the solitude and the pristine environment, fishing is a bonus. It's nice being some place where you don't hear any man made sounds like engines and TV's. Listening to Loons and an occaisional wolf howl is music to my ears. I must see the pictographs on the next trip, heard they are worth the paddle to view.
