Except for any future conflicts, I plan on being there.
@OneMatch........We are 6 hours north of Nashville and 3.5 hours south of Rockford. If you go, feel free to stay the night going up and/or back."
That sounds like the perfect plan, thanks! We're overdue for another wing night "road trip".
We all have to believe in something. I believe I'll go paddle.

Glad you bumped it, Bob. I sure hope to make it this year.

Hoping to make it to my first Wingnight with this one. Will have to wait till it's a little closer to commit to coming and check with the wife to see if she is coming along. Hope to finally put a face with the names and to see if anyone needs a single for any trips since my wife is out of commission for taking any to the BWCA this year due to shoulder surgery.

It's good to be prepared.....I'll bring my Snowtrekker tent.
I set a goal of losing 10 lbs. this year. I only have 15 left to lose.

Hey Bobbwca! I have a suggestion. Any way we could get some metal posts set up on either side of the concrete pad? If so, we could hang a few tarps over the area in case of rain. I have two tarps I could bring and I'm willing to pitch in on the cost.
03/04/2014 12:24PM
The good news is I don't have to work that weekend. Hopefully I'll be able to make it but I'm also looking at getting a SCUBA cert by June so I may be diving that weekend instead. :( Maybe I should do my diving in the river, might find the phone I dropped in last time.

I have two 10x20 canopies ill bring that we can set up, plus two or three 10x10 EZ-ups.

If I come I can bring an Easy Up also. It has the zip on sides to it. My wife is wondering what all goes on during the weekend and if there are porta potties, water, etc.

It is basically a family friendly camping weekend. Many of us will have adult beverages at night, but no one gets out of line. There is much discussion of the same stuff we talk about on the site, only face to face. Bring maps if you want to talk tripping options. There is usually a Saturday paddle on the Kishwaukee River that borders the camping area, so bring your canoe. There are two permanent pit toilets on site. There is well water, but it has not been tested for consumption so we don't drink it. I suppose it could be filtered, but most bring bottled water. Also, pets are welcome and there are wooded areas to walk and enjoy the flora. Bring all the car camping stuff including the bag chairs. Plenty of picnic tables available for cooking and dining. Firewood is provided by our host, Bobbwca.

Thanks Andy! Pretty much explains what we do. We also have a potluck Saturday after noon. I buy a case of burgers, and others bring different dishes to pass. I'll keep everyone updated on River conditions. Hopefully it melts soon!

Shocker of my life yesterday when the teenager asked if we were going group camping with y'all anytime this year and she was bummed that we were not, since we have a conflict.
!!!!!
She said, "I'd love to go as long as I don't have to go canoeing."
(ok, so we're not all the way there...but part of the way there!)
I'm bummed that we won't be there. AndySG, if you are reading this, I think you should plan a fall event in your neck of the woods. :)

Andy, hopefully it'll be during a time when I'm down there...in fact, there's a possibility that I might be playing a local venue on one of the Saturday nights on either side of July 4...

Hope you survived all the nasty weather up there in Rockford. Saw photos online of all the hail you got up that way.

Bobbwca and I were out in it splitting wood for the wingnight! It was a little scary out there for a while, but no biggie...dime-size hail, blew through quickly. Reports of golf-ball size hail not too far away, though....
04/12/2014 08:02PM
Lot of rain and hail to start the day, then it cleared up and rained and hailed some more. Bonvicken went fishing! By 11 am it was all clear. Unfortunately a well intention-ed club member, decided it would be a good idea to drop off two dump truck loads of wood in the middle of our camp area. So 10 hours later we have that cleaned up. For the most part anyways, ill have it all cleaned up by the camp out. We do have a lot of fire wood tho. Many, many.many cords of wood.
Thanks to Bonvicken, Dave, Tim, Jim,Lee and everyone else that helped! We're all set! 5 trailers of wood cut and split was a lot.

I'm now out of this weekend.
My sister was diagnosed with cancer and her daughter has put together a fund raiser on May 4 at 8am. Naturally, that takes precedence and I gotta support my Sis.
Enjoy the party everyone!

Sorry to hear about your sister Jim.
As far as me, As much as I wanted to go, I'm out. The kids are doing so many things right now, scouts, soccer, dance.
It's insane!
I see these people with the 6 stick figures of the kids on the back of their mini-vans all doing different activities. I only have 2 and have a hard time getting everything done.
Sorry guys, I was really looking forward to it!

For those that are bringing canoes, you will need a 2014 Illinois sticker to be legal to paddle. You can get these at any place that sells fishing license, ex: Gander mountain, Walmart, etc. Cost is $6.50 for the sticker.
I was out there today hooking up the well pump, went looking for Morels in the woods and had a couple deer ticks crawling on me. You might want to bring something for ticks, or at least check yourself over for them.
The river level is great, we shouldn't have to worry about low water when we paddle Saturday.
I will be out there early Friday, see you then!

Ok - I think I'm in for this. I am going to assume if I bring marinated meat I will find a place to burn it to perfection on a grill in camp. I think I have a pretty cool salad type thing to bring also. If I'm in I'm coming Friday I think. Let there be rock.
I hate cold weather. Bringing extra binkies. I have a solo and a tandem. I can bring my Spirit if someone needs a boat.

Damn, I wish I had thought about this earlier. I don't even have to turn to get from Sioux City to Rockford. The only bag I have with me is a 40 degree and a flannel liner. I'll probably try to come over Saturday, I should know more for sure Friday morning.
