I've been surprised how difficult it is to find two trees that work well for hanging a hammock in some campsites. You'd think the options would be endless.
It occurred to me today that a 3 point suspension might open some options. I'm thinking it should be possible to run a line between two trees (that don't work well for hanging on their own). At some point along that line, you'd have a climbing ring. The hammock would then be suspended between the ring and a third tree.
I know....sounds like a lot of futzing around. It might, though, make it possible to hang in that "perfect spot", or hang without being in the middle of a bunch of brush.
The suspension rope with ring would have to be hung pretty high at each end, but it is doable. Of course, you must use low stretch rope, e.g. Amsteel. Then you have to think how to hang your tarp...

Should work, and something I had not considered. No stretch webbing or line would be a must along with a couple other issues, but I have had the same trouble finding "suitable" trees and this is something to consider. Thanks for thinking outside the box.
