Hi, I'm looking for any suggestions on a first time solo trip? I haven't been to the BWCA in about 8 years, so I am looking for a fairly simple/easy route suggestion if possible. Interested in sort of a base camp type trip, maybe paddle for a day or two, set up camp for 3 days then paddle out. Fishing is important but not my first priority. I know its too late this year for permits, so I'm trying to plan for next summer. One of the areas I haven't been to is the Gabbro/Bald Eagle/S. Kawishiwi area, so I was thinking about a trip in this region.

Also, any particular outfitters that people have had good luck with ??

Any suggestions are welcome !!

Nice area, good fishing. Just hope that you don't get caught in the wind channeling down from the northwest and stopping you in your tracks in Bald Eagle! :-)

You could have a good site in Pietro and take day trips into Clearwater & Gull. Then making sure it is a calmer day, venture out into Bald Eagle and over to Gabbro.

You could start at Snake River or Gabbro for a mid point that would be easy for you to exit once again where your car is parked.
