Just returned from a trip scheduled 6/30 to 7/04. Went into Agnes, over to Louisa, through Arp to Star with our destiniation being Fauquier (known for fantastic Smallmouth). Unfortuntaley with the rain, the trail from Star to Fauquier was covered and could not be found and was under water, as this area is "swampy" and was like walking on floating mattresses (girlfreind put her foot down at this point), so we decided to head back to Louisa and call that base camp for a few days. The fishing wasn't the best there. By Thurday, we headed back to Sunday Lake and found some good smallmouth fishing. Using Bandit 100 in Rootbeer color (hot crankbait that my entire bassclub uses as a secret weapon), the bass were hitting on almost every other cast in some places. I hate to admit, but majority were small. The one lake that I was most impressed with and wish I could have spent more time on was Meadows. We took a break there between the two "Agony" portages, and caught largemouth of decent size in no time and with little effort. I would recommend anyone intereseted in Lagemouths to spend a few hours here before passing through. I wish I had spent more time there myself. One last note, the biting flys were awful. I've been all over Canada, and this past weeks was the worst that I've ever seen. Still had a good time, despite the storms and bugs. I had switched outfitters this time, and was very happy with the service. I will continue to use them again.
