Does anyone have any information as to who to contact for information on what forest roads are plowed in the winter? We planned a trip into Gabbro a few years ago that had to be changed on the fly after we got temporarily stuck on an unplowed road. Does the forest service handle that or is it all county highway shops? Thanks.

I would be interested in an answer to this as well. Last year I got stuck and had to dig myself out trying to get to Ojibwe Lake. It wasn't a big deal, but it did waste a lot of energy that I could have used to get to camp. I should have called up Red Rock and asked them about that particular road. Perhaps if there is an outfitter in the area, they would be a good source.

Knowing if a particular road is plowed could possibly mean driving a car instead of a gas guzzling truck.

The forest service does not plow, it's the counties gig.

IF no one lives on the road, it will not be plowed. That's pretty much ow it works.

OR It will only be plowed to the residence, not beyond.
