I'd like to encourage any and all you winter camping enthusiasts to attend the upcoming Winter Camping Symposium. It's being held Thursday October 24 thru Sunday October 27 at Camp Miller in Sturgeon Lake Minnesota (just south of Duluth).
Lots of informative seminars and classes. Tours of participants tents. Good meals.

I attended for the first time last fall. I really enjoyed it. I learned a lot at the numerous seminars I attended. Good classes, a fascinating tent tour. Good meals and after dinner speakers. "Tent tour" on Saturday afternoon. Never saw so many Stormy Kromer hats in one place in my life!! Loved it.

Just wanted to announce that the Winter Camping Symposium has a new home!
Same dates, but we are making a run for the border! YMCA Camp Icaghowan near Amery, WI will be hosting the event. More details on speakers and events are starting to take shape.

Hey, I actually know where that is! Lake Wapogasset Lutheran Bible Camp is just down the shore from them.

Just got back this afternoon. Had a ball. Really enjoyed Bears Friday night keynote address about his annual New Year's BWCA adventures. It was hilarious. I'm not sure how I would react if a saw a bunch of guys skiing towards me wearing dresses......but it looked hilarious.

Wish I would have had more time to chat with you. I hope next year I won't be so busy running around like a headless chicken.
I hope you guys had a good time.
We would welcome any suggestions or criticism you may have in order to make next year better :)

Can we somehow get a "trip report" (with pics) on this event for those few of us who live in the south, could not make the event, and do our "winter camping" vicariously on this site?

That's a good idea. I'll try to put one together. My photo's of this years event don't do it justice, but I'll give it a whirl later today.

Thanks, AW. Good trip report. Makes me want to attend next year's symposium .... even if it is a 2,000 mile trip.
