Now is the time to start winter trip planning. In my case, and I suspect lots of people, a weekend is all we get for winter trips. Lets say Friday through Sunday at the best. What are some good destinations for a 3-day, two-night BWCA fishing trip.
I've done the Flour Lake campground, Bearskin area years ago and thought that was great. Of course back then I didn't care about fishing - just the experience. Now it's both.

I am thinking about Sawbill lake up into Kelso area or Baker Lake in a couple of lakes. Fairley easey to get to and smaller lakes protected from wind. Trygve maybe has some ideas for the GunF.>Timber Frear lakes just outside of the bw is also an area I have wanted to hit.

Remember, catching walleyes through the ice up here is NOT like it is in southern Minnesota. They just vanish in our deep lakes, you can find some in shallow weedier lakes, but other than that. You're kinda out of luck.
You wanna fish for Lake Trout or Pike if you want some action.
