Hi!

Well, I've done three trips up to BWCA in the past, all in groups of 9 with canoes for about 5 or 6 days. Now, I'm contemplating going with a 1 to 3 others and we are debating kayaking instead of canoeing. Any opinions on which to do?

Also, anyone know any routes that would be good for kayaking - perhaps a little more secluded than Nina Moose. I'm interested in a route that would be a 5 day trip, roughly. Maybe spending a night or two in the same location. We are planning on going in August and would like to have some good fishing and hopefully some wildlife!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

Hope ya'll have fun on your trips.

JC

I don't advise taking only kayaks. Too hard on the portages and packing the gear/food in them and taking it out on portages.

But they can be fun.

Think about taking at least one canoe per kayak. That way the packs can be in the canoes and lifted out for the portage easier.

I agree with you-all kayaks would be hard so take a canoe for hauling, kayaks might be able to get you past acouple portages but not all and then you have to deal with the stuff.
