Heads up if you paddle a thermoform plastic boat. Mine experienced a nasty crack in the hull when I pulled it off the roof rack this morning. It was 27 degrees and the hull split spider like where it pulled against the saddle. I have done some reading and none of the manufacturer manuals warn about cold but I found comments on one of the forums about this concern. It will be patchable and should be just fine, but a real hassle. I came back home and switched the Delta for my poly Tsunami 14'5" and had a nice paddle anyway.
After holiday interferences I sent an email to Colin at Delta; he replied within 24 hours confirming elasticity in thermoform plastic does reduce with cold, but that the range I was experiencing the crack likely was related to a stress fracture pre-existing. It is repairable and I will be sending photos. This whole experience might get me back to Canoecopia to meet directly with the team. Colin sold me the boat last year. I will provide updates as I know others are looking or using thermoplastics.
