Tuesday:

Crab Lake legal problems for the 1 mile portage off of Burntside Lake. Owner threatening to close off the entry (which crosses his land) on Monday!

*&*&*&*&
Then, this afternoon: Thursday

from Becca Manlove of the Forest Service. I just received a call from her a couple minutes ago and this is what the official statement is 'for now';

People who have a permit can do any of the following;

1. Do the portage anyway (and see what happens)

2. Check out your map for alternative entries. (like the river).

3. Choose another entry for the same day, no extra charge for the new permit.

4. Change your date and entry (or hope that Crab is open later).

5. If you do choose to do the portage, and have second thoughts after you get over there (& too much hassle) you can go back to the Forest Service and get all your money refunded.

If you want any more info, the Forest Service is also giving out the numbers I gave on a previous post (here they are again)

Owner Mike Loisel 218 365 6171 or 952 933 4275
Commissioner Mike Forsman 218 365 8200
Scott Kelling (Forest Service) 218 2580 ext 252
Ely Forest Service 218 365 7603 or 7561

You are also welcome to call me and John and we will try to help you all. 218 365 3251
