Can someone let me know exactly what the regulations are with regard to food containers?

It seems like some things are allowed, while others that are similar are not.

For example, could someone bring peanut butter in a plastic jar into the BWCA or would they have to get it in some kind of tube?

We are thinking of packing many foods that come in foil pouches such as tuna, rice dishes, granola bars, etc. I'm assuming those are OK.

The rules are pretty simple. No glass containers and no cans. Foil or plastic pouches are ok, but pack 'em out. Don't try to burn them in the fire.

Soda bottles - plastic - are fine. For that matter plastic beer bottles are fine as well - just pack 'em out.
