Looking for some help in trying to decide between a Clark NX-200 and a Warbonnet Blackbird double 1.7. I don't have a lot of experience with them and can't decide which to go with. Has anyone tried both and picked one or the other for any particular reason.
Both would work just fine. However there are pros and cons to each. First the pros..... WBBB: -flatter lay -more shoulder room -lighter
NX-200: -pockets (they will hold a weekend full of gear) -weathershield (awesome!) -very sturdy and built like a tank -entrance from either side -very stable
cons.... WBBB: -needs a tarp to complete the package, complete with ridgeline/rigging -entrance from one side with a tie out right in the middle
NX-200: -Not quite as flat a lay as the WBBB -stock suspension sucks (I swapped mine out for straps) -one piece design (hammock and tarp) is kind of harder to set up and untangle (I separated my fly and added it's own ridgeline)
Look at them both. I have 5 hammocks and I'm thinking of letting the Clark go at a great price. I'll make that decision over the next few weeks. I love it for winter camping.
I love the smell of silnylon in the morning. It smells like........victory!
Buy both and sell the one you like the least. You will be able to recoup 98% of the cost as long as its in new condition. People want these and they want them now over on hammock forums.
Btw, how big are you? Are you dead set on these two?
