So what's the one comfort thing that you need to take? Even if you really don't need it just looking for some ideas.

Solar shower.

If you think the shower at the end of the trip is the greatest one you ever had - try one mid week when you have just completed a great day of paddling and fishing. And the walleyes are sizzling in the skillet while you clean up for a sunset dinner of fresh fish.

Now THAT'S a great shower.

Alite Monarch Butterfly chair which is much lighter than the chairs shown here but not for everyone. But for me it cradles my back so nicely that it makes me feel better at the end of a long day of travel.

I'd put down a good sleeping pad (BA insulated air core or exped) first but I consider a sleeping pad a necessity rather than a comfort item. Still those pads made me much comfier than the thermarests I used to use.

Good answers all, I would have to say a hammock is what I can't go without. I first started with one of those string hammocks and now have a ENO doublenest. Nothing better than a nap in a hammock after a long day.

I have to say a little shocked to hear a couple showers but it sure does sound nice though chair would have to be my must have but you hammock people got me thinking to. Cute bear by the way.

I got one of those chairs too, Andym, and I love it. Packs so small I even bring it backpacking. But like you said, not for everybody because you have to balance on it.

I like to bring baby wipes. They are helpful for cleaning all sorts of things...hands, face, and a quick "shower" if needed. Plus your hands don't smell all fishy:)

I would like to get a chair for my solo trips, but chair has to be very light. Trying to lighten my load.

Just finished up setting up my gear in the back yard for the first time this year, and realized the little gadget I love the most.

Figure 9 carabiners.

Man, I love those things! With a Lean shelter and a 10 x 14 tarp, my camp site can be real rope intensive. Those little figure 9 carabiners keeps the knots are a minimum. I don't have anything against tying knots, but those little gadgets are great for us old guys with arthritic fingers, or when your fingers are cold.

My cot. Every body has their own tent and cots allow for excellent sleeping whether or not the ground is even, rocky, or pocked. Strap the ole thermarest on so it does not slip and sleep comfort is mine.

Hands down, no contest, my faithful dog. I ran into a quote that just about sums it up;

Trust in me my friend for I am your comrade.
I will protect you with my last breath.
When all others have left you and the loneliness
of the night closes in, I will be at your side.

Nothing, absolutely nothing beats a good dog.
