I am looking at purchasing a top and bottom set, the pro-angler suit and would like to know if anyone on the board has any experience with this particular brand of rain suits. Let me know your pro's and con's so no money is dropped on a mediocre product.

Thanks!

Jim

Very tough, easily cared for, keeps you dry... would not leave home on an outdoor trip without them... I have the camo pattern and wear them hunting and fishing... if canoeing with them, be careful to remember to drain the leg if you wetfoot it... they hold water in as well as they keep it out!!

Yes both my parents have them and love them! They work great in the fishing boat and on canoe trips!

Anyone have trouble with snagging them on trees, brush ect? Seems like they could rip fairly easily.

Last year while turkey hunting in the rain I was crossing a small deep stream on a tree that had fallen across it... I was using another limb to help balance myself... the log broke and I fell on the sharp tip of the limb I was using to balance myself. It jabbed into the side of my chest... it gave me a cut/scratch about 3 inches long (of which I still have the scar) but did nothing to my Frogg Togg jacket... They may seem to wear or frazzle a little on the outside... but it is the middle layer that keeps you dry... or at least that is what they say...

Ditto on Arkansas's observation about frazzling, but no rips. Have only one minor beef in my two year experience with them - the pockets on the pants (vs bib) model do let in a bit of water in moderate to heavy rain.. They have been good overall- a best buy compared to the fancy goretex, etc...

I looked at these Frogg Toggs last night at Bass Pro. They look like they are made of Tyvek. Are they durable and do they dry quickly?

I Bought a mountian hardwear waterproof jacket, and it is the best. I used it when i went to ski this year out in MT and it kept all the water off even skiing in powder. i have used it in many rain storms to do work and it is great. light very breathable, pockets and just have to find some good rain pants.

Frogg toggs dry very quickly... they repel water very well also... they will also hold water in if you are wet footing during a portage and get water inside your pants... Durable? I would say they are very durable... as I said in above post... I have worn them hunting, fishing, working.. just about everywhere you can wear them and I like staying dry!!!

I have alway's worn frogg togg's fishing and have never had a problem with them. Naturally I thought they would be great on my first trip into the bwcaw. It rained steady for 4 day's. I was dry for the first day until they ripped on a passing branch. I've read the threads above and can't believe nobody has had similar tears or puncture hole's. this year for the same price I bought gander mountain's H20 rain gear. jacket and pant's are seam sealed, double layered in the elbow's, knee's,and crotch. Both item's fold into the sewn in pockets.
The jacket offers 4 pockets(zippered and seam sealed). The pant's have a back pocket, zip up leg's to the knee's(no need to remove your boot's, also seam sealed). The cuff of the pant's have a Velcro band around the ankle's(didn't collect any debris on this trip). In my opinion you get more bang for your buck and only weighs 6oz more. bass pro and cabela's offer similar products. good luck finding the product that work's for you. -Lee

I have never worn frogg toggs, but a friend of mine bought a set, and says they're no bueno. He managed to rip the jacket simply by unbuttoning it, and then snagged the pants and put a hole in them.
Just some second hand info for you.

I own a pair and they probably the best set of rain gear I own, as far as keeping you dry and comfortable. On my last trip to the BWCA it rained for 3 days and I stayed dry, my brother (with his expensive, and heavy gore tex) did not. They are NOT, however, very tough. I don't know where everyone here is getting that idea. If you treat them nice, they are a very lightweight, packable, and effective means to keep yourself dry. I'm very wary about passing branches, though.

I must have the exception pair because mine are pretty tough. I have been jabbed with sticks in them and briars. Only time I did anything to them was when I accidentally cut them with a knife them just an iron on patch on the inside and as good as new. BTW DO NOT Iron Frogg Toggs they do handle ironing very well. I learned that when I put the patch on, so if you have to iron them do just the area where the patch is.

I am fortunate enough to live near a Bass Pro Shop. Bass Pro carries several different styles of Froggtoggs. The heavier more durable Froggtoggs start at about $70 and go up to over $100. The cheapest $30 Froggtogg rain suit Bass Pro carries would not hold up well to heavy abuse. I just bought the Froggtogg Pro Signature2 Bullfrog for $53 on ebay. This is going to be my heavy rain suit for June trip to BWCA. The top of the line Elite Froggtogg rain suit is selling for $109 on ebay as of this date. I have not seen the Elite in Bass Pro Shops.

wow! an ancient thread gets revisted! frogg toggs? i wouldnt buy anything but. they get better with every wash. AND THEY BREATH. they may get kinda "fuzzy" but, i think they are absolutely the best buy out there for breathable rainwear. definately go for the set with bib bottoms. (no plumbers crack....:)) Jan

i have the original bib set....first generation...unless youve tried them, dont assume they are crap. btw....they DO hold up to heavy abuse. for $60 bucks (at BPS)? cheaper else-where perhaps. you cant go wrong.

the pair i saw on our inshore chartered boat were given to our captain at a trade show by the manufacturer. to say they were "fuzzy" is an understatement. the guy that was wearing them had left his raingear in the truck and looked like he had on a ragged old pair of pajamas. when i asked the captain how he liked them, he lust laughed and shook his head. goretex for me.

I love mine. One thing though, get the pants one size larger than usual because they need a bit more room for sitting and squatting. Rain pants are bad for blowing out in back.

Yeah! That's why I haven't used them. BLOW OUT! I'm sure their better then the Tyvek suits I wear sometimes at work but the crotch rips out of them every time I "squat". If I go to the bigger size their too saggy. (tyvek that is)
