Hey Brother, Great trip report...I felt like I was there all over again. What an awesome time.
I remember on one of the portages thinking, "Despite this pain, and the canoe digging into my shoulders...I can't think of another place I'd rather be right now."
Thanks for working so hard to everything organized.

quote AndySG: "Very nice report NWH. Great fishing pics, and as for the cliff jumping, YeeeeHawww! It is so rewarding to turn others on to the magic of the BW. Good job!"
Thanks Andy! Coulnt agree more.

Reading the story of your adventure was good medicine for the sadness of not being able to join you. Good thing the BWCA will still be there next year, albeit minus a few more big pines because of the recent fire. Can't say as i understand the logic of allowing a easily extinguishable fire to smolder for days only to bring the big guns and lots of personnel to battle a fire that has consumed 150,000 acres of forest.

quote Noslen: "We ran into you at the north end of the 140r portage. Appreciate the fishing advice, but your comment stuck with us all, "It sucks to be us because we're leaving and you're entering". "
Nolsen,
I remember you! How was the trip?

How could it be bad, we spent a week in the BWCA? Warm/hot/sunny weather (swimming everyday in Sept) with no bugs, incredible fishing Beartrap and Iron. Unfortunately we spent our first half-day in Friday bay sleeping (great fishing paddling/trolling in from Iron, but the hammocks were too inviting), and the full layover day in Friday bay we got wind-borne (spent 16 hours on that little bay you recommended but got only 5-6 bass--ate them all because we only planned on being out for the day fishing). Didn't leave the bay until 0130, awesome Northern Lights, fun to paddle across Friday Bay in the moonlight and heavy winds. Your excitement and advice (the comment) really stuck with the two newbs on the trip.

Awesome to hear that the trip was good and the new guys had a great time! Though i agree, its always good up there. Im jealous and excited for you that you guys got northern lights! Thats incredible. No lights for us, although we did get the longest shooting star ive ever seen. Long enough for someone to say look and us all to see it go from one end of the sky to the other for a full two seconds. Im glad we got to meet and it was a pleasure talking on the trail.
