This feels like a dumb question as I type, but...
Is there a source to learn weather or not an entry permit has been issued for a given date(s) in Quetico? The reason I ask is because I would like to avoid a certain area if others have likely put in on dates surrounding our entry. 'Can't seem to find a direct answer in the usual places...
Maligne river entry #42 on the 2nd of June and would like to head south and a bit east. This would cause us to compete with others coming in through McAree #43 and Crooked #44. Heading up the Maligne to Sturgeon doesn't appeal 'cause we prefer the smaller lakes.
BTW, anybody got any favorite spots to share?

There is no way I know of except to call reservation # and pose as another party and ask if they have any available permits for the dates and entry points that concern you. Make notes, and tell them you'll discuss it and call them back if you decide.
That said, I don't understand why it should matter. The 3 entry points you mentioned have a grand total of 5-6 parties per day. Most of the Bottle entries head down Crooked and veer north furthur east, or go into Argo-Roland Chain. Most of the McAree entries bust east to Darky and beyond. So there is plenty of room for adequate dispersal. If seeing another party will ruin your trip, consider it over. My 2 cents.

Since there's only 2 permits per day at EP 43 and 2 at EP 44, I think they are almost certainly always all taken during June, July, and August. And you wouldn't know for sure until right before the trip even if there's a vacancy when you're planning your trip. Anyway, once you get to the border lakes most of the traffic is from the BW.
