His book is good and covers the Hunters island well. He by passed the Falls Chain. Wish I had information about this area. Look for my picture in his book. We wrote a Chapter on Wabakimi Palisade Route. I am the yonge one ;>)
I just saw your picture in his book. I’ve been busy at work and had been preparing for my own variation of the Hunter's Island loop that I haven’t had time to read it, yet. I have browse through it, though.
In fact, I’m planning on e-mailing Kevin shortly about a section of the route that he covered when he did the Hunter’s Island loop. This was the section from the Maligne River through beaver land to Minn Lake. He wanted to know what I thought of that section and I just finished my trip last Thursday.
I’ve started doing a trip report, but I’m only about half way through the rough draft. I think it’s the size of a small book. I don’t think anyone will read it, but it’s really for me.
Kevin went up through Louisa Lake to Glacier and McEwan into Kenny Lake so he did cut off all but one small falls in the stretch of the “Falls Chain”.
I would buy the Chrismar map of Quetico ( The Adventure Map) that shows the portages correctly as well as all of Quetico. This map shows all of the portages that are still maintained within the park. I don’t know what you want to know about this section, but maybe I could help. I didn’t spend all that much time in the section. I just traveled through. I did camp on Kenny Lake after passing through the “Falls Chain” this year.
Wabakimi and Woodland Caribou are two places I still plan to get to. I’ll have to read that chapter of Kevin’s book..
