I'm not saying i'm done for the season. But was thinking about putting my canoe away for the winter. I've had it on the back deck for the summer in the shade. Should I worry about moving it to the garage? Let me know your thougths.

Royalex expands and contracts at different rates then the gunwales whether they are metal, plastic or wood. It is best to store it out of the elements if possible. The stress put on the royalex by the movement at different rates may create a crack in the surface. It is not a terrible thing, but if you can avoid it you should. Also UV rays will fade the color of Royalex or cause it to have a hazy finish over time so storing out of the elements and/or adding a protectant on is a help.
This is information I have heard. I do not own a Royalex canoe currently so if any other board member has some first hand experience please share.
