OK...what is everyone doing to pack out the "used" toilet paper?
My scout troop advises creating a diaper genie of sorts with a small section of PVC pipe and some end caps.
My original thought was simply a ziplock then a stop at the first campsite with a latrine.
Another thought is to forgo the whole paper thing in lieu of the mountain man version = leaves (with extra attention to "leaves of 3 let it be).
I'll also add another option which none of us would admit to a Ranger = we bury it like we used to.
This is our first PMA and wondering what the concensus on this is...

I always wondered why somebody didn't do something about that. Then I realized I am somebody. Lily Tomlin

My options:
1) Bury in a cat hole that is at least 6" deep. When we PMA camp we find a place well back from the water in the woods (more than 150') where we can dig a 6-8" deep hole. We remove the top layer and set aside for replacement when we leave. We dig a deep hole and all waste goes into the hole including TP. We replace the soil and top layer and cover with duff and leaves when we leave.
2) Burn if we can have a fire and can ot dig a deep hole.
3) Double ziplock if we can't dig a deep hole and there is a fire restriction or we choose to no have a fire.

Just be sure if you bury your TP it it is buried deep enough and the duff replaced properly.
I have been on campsites in Quetico where people did not dig deep enough and the tell tale "white flags" appeared all over the ground. Also one campsite where some critter dug up a poorly constructed, shallow cat hole. Talk about gross!!!!

The real problem with burying toilet paper is that animals dig it up to investigate and scatter little shreds of white paper everywhere. That's definitely not something I would appreciate finding. If you bury it, maybe put a big rock on it then bury it deep. That should deter most small critters.
And I hope if you burn it, that you don't do it in a firegrate where I cook my food. Yes, some PMA's still have remnants of old campsites and have fire grates to use.
I think i'll be placing my toilet paper into a ziploc bag and then stuffing it into an old nalgene bottle with some baking soda on the bottom to deoderize it. I'll just empty out the contents after the trip. A pvc pipe container could be made for less than 10 dollars too. Not a bad option either.
