Awesome report! Loved the photos - looked like you had a lot of success fishing :) And a huge CONGRATS on your first trip without 'real' adults along - even though you are now considered an adult yourself ;)
Enjoyed the read - keep on posting!
Happy paddling....

Great report! It is great to see young men such as yourselves enjoying the BWCA. There are many "real adults" in this world that would not be able to do a trip as well as you did. There have been many posts on this website about the average age of visitors to the BWCA getting older, so it is awesome to see a younger generation of trippers!!

Nice report. I teach high school students and you two are very responsible and mature. I am impressed. From a Christian perspective I love that fact that you read your Bible along the way. Awesome.

Very good report. Sounds like an amazing trip with some excellent fishing. I've got to ask though... I noticed that you two had lots of fish on stringers (and some very large fish at that). From the looks of your photos, I couldn't imagine that just two of you ate all of those fish in the two fish meals you mentioned. What were you doing with all of those fish, was there a lot of waste or did you two manage to consume them all? That stringer of smallies alone looked like it could feed my family of five for two nights...

o yeah we didn't eat all of them. We made a live well and left the fish in there to keep them alive. We did eat a good portion of them though. Yeah we weren't sure if we should injure the fish that we were letting go by punching a hole through their lip but we wanted the pictures but decided to. maybe thats unethical i don't know.

That doesn't sound like the most ethical fishing scenario I have heard. Hopefully the fish you released survived. Smallies are resilient fish so they may have. Not sure if there are any legal ramifications for doing that, as long as you never had more than 6 smallies per person at anytime. I believe that is the possession limit. Most people would stress practicing catch and release after you have caught the fish you plan on consuming.

yeah I guess maybe we should have thought about it more. I'm sorry. But I can assure you they were very lively and just fine when we let them go. I don't think one hole in their lip would kill them. But I can see where it would bother you and people. We ate over 75% of the fish we caught though so it was probably only 6 or 7 that we released and they all darted away when we put them back.

Nice trip guys. Great trip for brothers to do. I wish I would started canoe tripping at a younger age. I'll be looking forward to your future trips. You know where to find me if you are looking for some new trips to try.
