I found a "blast from the past" in my library. A 1957 pamphlet on Canoe Routes of the Quetico Provincial Park by the Ontario Department of Lands and Forests, C. F Mapledoram and F. A. MacDougall listed as Ministers.
The small pamphlet is 16 pages and it lists twelve routes with est days and miles, portages listed in yards, and a brief description of the route, portages and highlights. No copyright listed.
Some examples, e.g. Route 1 Olifaunt Lake Loop - 4 days - 40 miles, 2- Walter, 3 McKenzie, 4 Quetico, 5 Kahshahpiwi, 6 Kawnipi 7 days - 60 miles, 7 Agnes to Maligne River - 14 days -115 miles, 8 Jean 10 days - 70 miles, 9 Darky 7 days - 40 miles, 10 The Man Chain, 11 Brent, and 12 Hunter Island Loop, 21 to 28 days - 128 miles.
The pamphlet lists equipment, gear and "Grub List"
Remember your "woollens" and a complete change of clothes.
"Many makes and kinds of canoes are available, but the most popular are the light metal or canvas covered in 15', 16' and 17' lengths. (Bring a repair kit for the canvas canoes).
bring a light down or feather sleeping bag is recommended, although you can get by with a couple of good woollen blankets and a ground sheet.
